3. Prohibited Uses (AI & Scraping)

To protect our cultural data and intellectual property, specific automated behaviors are strictly prohibited. You agree that you will not:

• Data Mining & Scraping: Use any robot, spider, scraper, deep-link, or other automated data gathering or extraction tools, programs, algorithms, or methodology to access, acquire, copy, or monitor the Site or any portion of the Content without our express written consent.
• AI Training: Use any Content from the Site, including but not limited to dictionary entries, audio pronunciations, definitions, or etymologies, for the purpose of training, fine-tuning, or grounding Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, Large Language Models (LLMs), or Machine Learning algorithms.
• Bypassing Security: Attempt to bypass or circumvent any measures we may use to prevent or restrict access to the Site, including but not limited to robots.txt protocols, IP blocking, or CAPTCHA barriers.

4. User Submissions & Licensing

YorubaName.com relies on community contributions to document history. When you submit, upload, or post content to the Site (including names, definitions, histories, or audio recordings) ("User Content"), you agree to the following:

• Grant of License: You retain your ownership rights in your original submission. However, by submitting User Content, you grant the Yorùbá Names Lexicography Initiative and Oratures LLC a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up, transferable, and sublicensable license to host, use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display, and distribute such User Content.
• Commercialization: You explicitly grant us the right to sublicense your User Content to third parties—including educational institutions, technology companies, and AI research labs—for use in commercial products, databases, linguistic research, and applications.
• Right to Edit: You acknowledge that we may modify your submission for accuracy, tone-marking, formatting, or clarity before or after publication.
• No Compensation: You acknowledge and agree that your submission of User Content is voluntary and made without expectation of compensation. You waive any right to royalties, fees, or other payments in connection with the use, licensing, or commercialization of the User Content by Us or our partners.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of:

• The State of Minnesota, USA, for matters related to Oratures LLC.
• The Federal Republic of Nigeria, for matters related to the Yorùbá Names Lexicography Initiative.

You irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these locations for any disputes arising out of your use of the Site.
